Many cases of unruly behavior by passengers inside Air India flights have been reported in the past few months.

On June 24, a man reportedly defecated and urinated inside an Indian Airlines flight. He was arrested later.

In November last year, a drunk man reportedly urinated on a woman traveling on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. Ten days later, another incident was reported of a “drunk” passenger allegedly “urinating” on a passenger’s blanket on the Air India Paris-New Delhi flight.

The latest data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed that airlines around the world experienced more rowdy passengers in 2022 than in the previous year.

According to the report, there was one incident reported for every 568 flights in 2022, compared to one for every 835 flights in 2021.

Non-compliance with flight rules, verbal abuse and intoxication ranked high in the type of bad behavior such fliers showed around the world last year. Instances of physical assault were rare but showed an alarming 61% increase over 2021 with one such incident reported every 17,200 flights.
