Health status and recovery time for Astros slugger on IL

It may not be long before the Houston Astros lineup gets a boost as player Yordan Alvarez continues to come close to being activated from IL. The 26-year-old has been out of action since hitting IL on June 9 with a right oblique injury, however, it looks like the current World Series champions may be returning to the All-Stars in their uniforms sooner rather than later.

While he will remain at IL after the All-Star break, Yordan Alvarez is said to be about to start a minor league rehab stint. According to Houston Astros GM Dana Brown, Alvarez will “definitely” be sent on rehab duty after the season resumes following the All-Star break.
It’s been a long road back to Yordan’s lineup, as the Silver Slugger winner progresses through rehab exercises in Texas. Last week, Alvarez took another important step on his way back to the MLB by participating in hitting practices in the field.

Although Alvarez will likely need a game or two in the minors before returning to action, it’s an encouraging update for the Astros, who sit just 2.0 games behind the Texas Rangers for the lead in the American West.
Yordan Alvarez remains one of the best hitters in the league, even after missing more than a month of action
It was another successful season for the Houston Astros slugger as he performed like an MVP candidate prior to his injury. Through 57 games this season, Alvarez has a . 272 batting average with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs. His 17 homers made him sit in 115 total games over 425 games played, and he was the fifth-fastest player in league history to hit the 100-home run mark.
Even with a lack of more than a month without a game, Yordan Alvarez still has 9th in the MLB and 13th in RBIs. He sits home behind Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, who has played 24 more games than the Astros slugger.
