A case has been registered against the accused under sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offence) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Child Sexual Offenses Protection Act (POCSO)
A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting the 10-year-old daughter of his partner who lives in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar here, police said.
An official said the incident took place in Asalfa district where the accused was living with his partner and her two daughters.
He said that the accused sexually assaulted the victim several times under the pretext of playing with her.
The official said the abuse came to light when the girl was captured by her aunt, who called the police with a complaint.
He said a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offence) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).
