As the reigning and defending strawweight world champion, Jared Brooks is proud to represent the smaller weight classes.

In an effort to dispel the notion that the heavier elite fighters are the ones to watch, “The Monkey God” has produced an amazing career since signing with ONE Championship.

With four straight wins inside the circuit, Brooks has knocked out several top strawweight competitors on his way to a shot at the crown.

Ready and able to back up everything he says, all his trash talk proved to be more than mere words after he defeated then world champion Joshua Paseo at the end of last year to become heavyweight king.

While he’s out for his own gains and isn’t necessarily aiming for the spotlight in the smaller weight classes, he hopes his style and performance can prove to fans that just because he’s the strawweight world champion doesn’t make him anything. Less exciting to watch the competition.

Constantly looking for an end, having fielded two of his four opponents under the ONE Championship banner, Jared Brooks refuses to look back.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post on YouTube, the champion talked about the impression he wanted to leave on fans as a standout in smaller weight classes:

“I’m a bright light for the fan, but a lot of the fans don’t know me because I’m a smaller fighter. But I’m going to prove to anyone that the little guys, they can finish first.”

Brooks is currently waiting to see where his next challenge comes from, whether it be moving out of his comfort zone or a rematch with the former Kings Paseo.
