A video of a female passenger asking the conductor of a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus to remove his skullcap has gone viral on social media, promoting the city police for details about the incident.
The woman who filmed the video was criticized for targeting the conductor of the orchestra, who hails from the Muslim community.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police responded to a viral tweet about the incident.
A minute-and-a-half clip taken by an unidentified woman shows the conductor asking if he can wear a skullcap when he’s in uniform as a conductor. The conductor replies that he will probably wear it.
I saw him on WhatsApp. If there was a machine to measure the severity of the societal toxins filled into that woman’s heart, would her spines be broken? I feel that hats are also allowed to wear saffron and garlands. My compliments to the manager who acted meekly even in front of the woman who was poisoning her pic.twitter.com/RFaIXGuq3M

“You practice your religion at home. You shouldn’t wear a beret when you’re in uniform,” says the woman. “I wore it many years ago, madam,” replies the conductor.
As the back and forth continues, the woman asks the conductor to answer if he can wear it as part of his uniform. Then Mosul asked her to bring it to the attention of the authorities, as no one has objected so far.
The woman insists that the conductor should take off his green hat, adding that she “would not object if I wore it in the mosque or your home.” Then the conductor is seen removing the skullcap.
Many Twitter users criticized the woman for targeting Mosul, wondering if she would treat people wearing bindi or turbans the same way. They also made reference to the controversial Ayuda Puja ceremonies held at a police station where police personnel wore saffron scarves.
They also demanded action against the woman even after a section of the users supported her.
