Bachchu Kadu, the independent Moroccan Liberation Army backing Prime Minister Eknath Shinde led by Shiv Sena, said on Wednesday that many MLAs are opposed to allocating a money portfolio to Deputy Prime Minister Ajit Pawar, who joined the Shinde-led government last week.

Kadu said that many MLAs are against Pawar getting a portfolio because they fear that Pawar might once again squeeze development funds for Shiv Sena MLAs as he did as Finance Minister during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

Even with the introduction of Ajit Pawar and eight other lawmakers into the cabinet 10 days ago, there was a deadlock over the allocation of portfolios to NCP ministers mainly due to the opposition of Sena leaders led by Shinde and MLAs.

Many have openly expressed that honorable portfolios and powerful portfolios should not be awarded to Pawar and other leaders. Many are against Ajit Pawar getting the financing portfolio. Because what happened in the MVA government. Prahar Janshakti MLA said: What if he again deals with MLAs in Sena as he did as Finance Minister in MVA.

Kadu said that “every MLA feels this way and four or five of them also told me that if the money portfolio goes to Ajit Pawar again, he will again give more money to NCP MLAs and less to others. So everyone thinks that the Finance Ministry should not be given to Ajit Pawar,” Kadoo claimed.

The purse, currently held by Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis, is not the only point of contention over the impasse over portfolio allocation, and the Sena MLAs led by Shinde are also opposed to NCP MLA Aditi Tatkare receiving ministerial regency for Raigad district.

Bharat Gugwali, MLA of Mahd in Raigad, publicly declared on several occasions that he would be the vizier-regent of the Raigad region.

According to the sources, apart from the Finance Ministry, Ajit Pawar also stressed on getting key ministries like Irrigation, Persons with Disabilities and Revenue to senior party leaders like Chajan Bhojbal, Dilip Walis Patil and others.
