Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his British counterpart Rishi Sunak traded barbs in a hilarious meeting on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Lithuania.
This was after Albanese presented Sunak with a piece of paper that read the current Ashes score series of ‘2 -1’ as he posed for pictures.
However, Sunak brought out a picture of England batsmen Mark Woods and Chris Woakes celebrating victory in Leeds.
“I would have been really provocative,” said Albanese, trying not to be outdone, and pulled up a photo of Bairstow being run out in the Second Test.
Sunak immediately replied, “I’m sorry I didn’t bring sandpaper with me,” referring to an earlier ball-tampering scandal from 2018.

Sunak wrote on Twitter: “I promised Anthony Albanese that I would give him one of our ministerial portfolios.
“Naturally it came with a little reminder of last weekend…two more left.”

Earlier, the Australian prime minister defended his country’s Ashes cricket team on Tuesday, after his British counterpart said dismissal during the second Test was against the spirit of the game.
“Same old Aussies – always win”, Albanese said on Twitter, referring to a chant sung by English fans after the decision that read “Same old Aussies – always cheat”.
With England on 193/5 and chasing a huge target of 371, Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey lowered the ball into the stumps after batsman Jonny Bristow let him tuck him in at an over end through the fifth day of the match.
