The Prime Minister said that in the second phase, the municipalities of 57 regional headquarters, and then in the third phase, 143 municipalities, should be linked to the Safe City project.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday that Uttar Pradesh will be the first state in the country to have 18 “safe cities”, providing a conducive environment for the safety and development of every resident of the state, according to a statement.

“All 17 municipal institutions and Gautam Budh Nagar should be developed as ‘safe cities’ in the first phase in the next three months. Funding will be managed for this through inter-departmental coordination,” Adityanath said during a review meeting in Lucknow.

He added that in the second phase, 57 municipalities should be linked to a district headquarters, and then in the third phase, 143 municipalities, to the Safe City project.

Special branding should also be done by placing a “Safe City” sign at the entrance to all of these cities. In this way, Uttar Pradesh will be the first state in the country to have the largest number of safe cities, the Chief Minister said.

Besides women’s safety, the project will now also include the safety of the elderly, children and divyangjan.

The Prime Minister, while reviewing the action plan to expand the safe city project being implemented in the state, gave instructions regarding the development of all cities.

He said that the state government is determined to provide an environment conducive to the safety and development of every citizen of the country, adding that the efforts made in this direction in the past six years have yielded promising results.

“Today, every woman and businessman is safe in the country. People have a sense of security. For this belief to continue, we must be on alert 24 x 7. The Safe City project has proven to be extremely instrumental in realizing the resolve to ensure the safety, dignity and self-reliance of women “.

Through this project in the state, under the Lucknow Police Commission, modern control rooms, police pink kiosks, Asha Jyoti Kandras, CCTV cameras, help desks for counsellors in women police stations, panic buttons in buses and other security measures have been implemented, He said.

The Safe City project currently focuses on women’s safety. It should be expanded and also linked to the safety of the elderly, children and divyangjan. With the Safe City, the campaign to create a safe, protected and empowering environment for women, children, the elderly and diwangans in public spaces will gain the necessary impetus.”

He said that the Social Welfare Department and the Urban Development Department should work together for the systematic rehabilitation of deranged people or people engaged in beggary.

He said that checking drivers of public transport vehicles is necessary to achieve the concept of a safe city, and stressed the need for drivers of taxis, e-rickshaws, cars, Tempus, etc. to be checked by the police.
