The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has proposed implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) before next year’s Lok Sabha elections in order to “annihilate” tribes and minorities by “taking away” their rights, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava said Thursday. He launched a massive protest by members of the tribal community against the proposed law in his constituency.

Chitar, who led the rally before handing over a note to local President Draupadi Mormo to Mamlatdar, said the BJP considered the president “modest” and thus “left it out of the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament”.

Addressing a gathering of members of the tribal community during the protest rally, the American MLA said the Jan Sangh – the parent organization of the BJP – had promised to abolish Article 370 as well as build a Ram temple in Ayodhya, but the BJP was taking a step forward to “destroy minorities and tribes”. “. “But now, before the Lok Sabha elections, with the aim of wiping out tribes and minorities by taking away rights, reservations and rituals, it has brought the BJP to the assembly of the Union of Contractors. The issue of taking away the special rights of communities is not something we can be silent about,” Chitar said.

He urged the tribal community to unite, and Chitar stated that the League would stage a mass protest against UCC on International Tribes Day on August 9. Our strength… This is the beginning of the protest against UCC. “The BJP will feel the influence over the 427 seats in the Lok Sabha where the tribes are present in large numbers,” Chitar said.

He said the tribal society is “unique” because it accepts eloped and remarried lovers, polygamy and widow marriage among other practices. And he warned that the tribes would lose their cultural, religious, financial and social identity with the implementation of the Union Carbide Corporation law, he said: “We treat sons and daughters equally. We also have ‘jamai-pratha’ (brother-in-law returning home) in case there are no sons in the family… Our communities can decide on divorce in villages (sabhas). If the UCC is implemented, all these rights and our rituals of kuldevtas (traditional deities) will be dissolved. He will also withdraw the special powers granted to our society in the Constitution by reservation. This will end our representation in politics as we now have elected representatives from gram level to MPs.”

Chitar also alleged that the BJP wanted to implement UCC to “take away forests and property from the tribes”. Right now, because of the special laws that have been made for the tribal communities, we have protection for our property. If UCC is implemented, this law will be repealed; The articles of the Constitution which give us the protection of property, the right to forests as well as the power of our villages will be removed. Violation of forest protection and rights, he said, is a serious issue, and they will take our property, stop our water, and take our forests.

Claiming that the President of India was in a “pathetic state” because she was tribal, Chettar said, “We have addressed the memorandum to President Draupadi Mormo. She is the Constitutional President but her situation is pathetic… The President was not called to install Parliament. This is because she is a tribe and the BJP considers her ‘Nisha’ (humble)…she is not allowed to enter the sanctum of Jagannath Puri because she is a tribe.”

Chettar also alleged that BJP leaders asked him to join the party instead of protesting.
