The accident occurred when IndiGo Flight 6E-1202 was en route to Mumbai International Airport
A case was registered against a 28-year-old man here on Thursday for smoking in a toilet on a flight between Bahrain and Mumbai.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when Indigo Flight 6E-1202 was on its way to Mumbai International Airport, an official of Sahar Police Station said.
Aircrew members noticed that Abu Tahir Kollakad Mohedu, a resident of Kolar in Karnataka state, had smoked inside the aircraft’s aft lavatory.
The police official said that when they confronted him, he confessed to smoking and handed over a pack of 17 cigarettes and a lighter.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (an act endangering the life of others or the safety of their personnel) and Section 25 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937 (smoking in aircraft) and there was a further investigation, the official said. .
