The officials said the CBI had sued Pamni, his wife and 13 former employees of Jet Airways under criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Officials said Thursday that the CBI has booked an officer of the Mumbai-based EPFO and 13 former employees of the crippled airline Jet Airways who paid him bribes to settle provident fund claims.
The case was handed over to the CBI after an investigation by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) found the existence of alleged fraudulent activities of Machindra Jagannath Bamine, Senior Assistant in Social Security posted to the Accounts Department of its regional office in Kandivali (East).
It turned out that Bamne obtained illegal gratification in his and his wife’s bank accounts through multiple online banking methods from employees of various organizations instead of settling their claims. It is alleged that 1.77 lakh rupees were deposited into his and his wife’s accounts by 13 employees of Jet Airways which has suspended operations.
“This aspect of the investigation was confirmed by checking online credit entries in the accounts of the official and his wife with corresponding debit entries in the bank accounts of employees of various institutions, whose PF claims were settled by Bamne,” the FIR claimed.
Officials said CBI sued Bamne, his wife, and 13 former Jet Airways employees for criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
