Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for the new office of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Patel said the upcoming office of the Accountant General in Gandhinagar will help speed up the processes currently being carried out by the ministry’s offices in Ahmedabad and Rajkot.
Comptroller and Auditor General of India Girish Chandra Murmo said moving the office to Gandhinagar would save costs and ensure greater coordination with the state government and its departments.
Mormo added that it will also reduce the time required for discussions between stakeholders during the accounting process and help resolve outstanding issues.
Mormo said the new office will be a “green building”. He also thanked Patel for allocating 17,860 square meters of land for the construction of the new office.
