Mercedes Moné (fka Sasha Banks) has been making waves on the Japanese wrestling scene since her departure from WWE. One of her old friends and former tag team partner, Trinity Fatu (Faka Naomi), recently commented about possibly working with Mooney again.
Moné and Fatu dropped out of World Wrestling Entertainment in May 2022 after the pair apparently grew dissatisfied with their creative direction for the company.
During a recent interview with New York Post, Trinity asked Fatu if she would be willing to wrestle alongside or against Mercedes Mooney again. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion responded:
“I don’t want to do that to anyone else but her, no matter what. I’ll always do what’s best for her, what’s best for me, and what’s best for the business. If something comes out, it makes sense for both of us, hell yeah.” (Erosion New York Post)
Trinity Fatu is preparing for one of the biggest matches of her career on Saturday at Slammiversary. She will face Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship.
Trinity Fatu is commenting on leaving WWE along with Mercedes Mooney
With their strong connection to the fans and undeniable talent, many were surprised to see Mercedes Mooney and Trinity Fatu leave the Stamford-based company last year.
In the same interview with New York PostFatu revealed that her friendship with Moné became stronger after they chose to leave World Wrestling Entertainment.
“No one understands the magnitude of what happened, what really happened, why we feel the way we do, and where we are but me, her, and the people who were involved that day. It shows how real our friendship is and how real it all is.” (h/t New York Post)
Like Fatu, Moné has also competed outside of WWE in 2023. The executive won gold in New Japan Pro-Wrestling earlier this year where she became the IWGP Women’s Champion.
