Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy, the Indian Air Force helicopter pilot who will lead his marching team in the Bastille Day parade in Paris on Friday, has a simple message for everyone – “Whatever you want, just go with it and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” Marching bands from the Army, Navy and Air Force will take part in the prestigious parade along with their French counterparts.
The officials said Squadron Leader Reddy will lead the 68-strong IAF contingent in the parade, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the guest of honour. Modi is on a two-day official visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
Speaking to PTI about her participation in the parade, Reddy said: “It really is a proud moment for us. I really didn’t expect that I would be representing our service (IAF) on foreign soil.” She said she was thankful to the state as well as the Air Force for putting them on the front line to represent the cause as well as the state.
She said she was excited to see the reaction of the French people.
When asked what message she wanted to convey, Reddy said “I will convey a simple message that nothing is impossible.” She said with determination and perseverance that she reached where she is today.
“No matter where you are in your life, whatever you want, just go with it. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. This is your life. You get to choose what you want, and there’s no stopping whatever good you know comes your way.”
When asked why she chose her profession, she said that she chose this because of her passion for flying.
I used to watch planes flying at the Bangalore Airshow when I was a kid. I used to always look up at the sky… Call my mom that I’ll be there someday. So yeah, that’s how it started.”
Reddy, an Mi-17 pilot, led the Indian Air Force’s Marching Band in the Republic Day parade on January 26 as well.
Four Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force will be flying over the Champs-Elysées on the occasion, along with French aircraft.
