PM Modi recalls his 40-year association with France, stressing cultural ties and strategic partnership

Looking back, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled his four-decade-long attachment to France during his address to the Indian community on his two-day visit to Paris. He referred to his personal ties with France, which go back nearly 40 years when a cultural center was opened in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

“My personal ties with France go way back. Almost 40 years ago, a cultural center opened in Ahmedabad, Gujarat,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris. The Prime Minister highlighted his role as the first person associated with this cultural center.

The Alliance Française is a century-old organization that plays a vital role in promoting the French language and culture abroad. Helps promote understanding and appreciation of France.

The prime minister is here for a two-day visit, during which he will hold wide-ranging talks with President Emmanuel Macron and join him for the French National Day celebrations as guest of honour.

Prime Minister Modi’s extensive program in Paris includes a plethora of engagements with French leadership, the Indian diaspora, CEOs and dignitaries.

Before his departure, Modi expressed confidence that his visit will provide new impetus to the bilateral strategic partnership. Expanding bilateral defense ties is expected to be a major focus of PM Modi’s talks with Macron.

Modi said his visit to France was particularly special, as he would join President Macron for the French National Day celebrations, or the Bastille Day celebrations in Paris as a guest of honour.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi and his French Prime Minister Bourne explored opportunities for cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, education and more. Prime Minister Modi also had a “productive meeting” with Senate President Gerard Larch, to promote mutual cooperation between India and France.

The visit will conclude with Prime Minister Modi’s departure to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
