Everton are said to be interested in signing Manchester United striker Anthony Elanga this summer. The Toffees were linked with a loan request for the Sweden international in January this year but the deal never materialized.
According to the BBC, Everton have registered an interest in signing Elanga on a permanent basis this summer. The striker has no future under manager Erik ten Hag and could be allowed to leave for the right price.
Manchester United value the striker, who they signed on a free transfer in 2015, at between £15-20m. He has scored four goals and set up as many goals for the club’s first team in 55 appearances since making his debut in 2021.
The 21-year-old featured heavily under former manager Ralf Rangnick but Ten Hag has not used him much in the 2022/23 season. He made 26 appearances across competitions for the Red Devils last season, most of which came on the bench. While he could not get a score sheet, he gave two assists.
The aforementioned report claims that the German side is also interested in Elanga, who still has three years left on his current contract with Manchester United.
The English giants have already parted ways with four players this summer. David De Gea, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones left the club after their contracts expired. Meanwhile, young midfielder Zidane Iqbal was sold to FC Utrecht.
Manchester United have so far completed just one signing this summer. They have sent Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth £60m, including add-ons. The midfielder also appeared with them in a final pre-season friendly against Leeds United.
The Red Devils have been linked with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana following De Gea’s departure. The Italian side are said to be awaiting a bid in the region of £55-60m, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming Onana wants a move to Old Trafford.
Atalanta striker Rasmus Hooglund is believed to be one of United’s best targets. The Red Devils only have Anthony Martial as their number 9 option after Wout Weghorst returned to Burnley after a short loan spell. But the Frenchman’s injury record means Ten Hag will want to add a striker before the transfer window closes.
