Superlek Kiatmoo9 knows they’ve covered all the bases when they take on Tagir Khalilov in their next match for the ONE Championship.
However, the ONE flyweight world kickboxing champion is still wary of the Russian knockout machine.
Prior to ONE Fight Night 12, Superlek had a short chat with the South China Morning Post. In that interview, Superlek indicated how Khalilov could turn the tide of his fight on Friday at Lumpinee Boxing Arena.
Superlek said:
“I think he has very strong punches, and I think he’s dangerous.”
Superlek has two reasons to be wary of Khalilov once they are between the ropes.
Khalilov is one of the hardest hitters in the current Muay Thai scene, and he has used those explosive strikes in his past two fights.
Samingpri is knocked out by two consecutive first-round knockouts against Chorfah Tor Sangtiennoi and Black Panther. These killing touches eventually earned Khalilov the unofficial nickname “Thai Killer” in the sport.
Superlek may be vigilant in his assessment of Khalilov, but the flyweight king of kickboxing is considered one of the best fighters of the modern era.
‘The Kicking Machine’ was a two-division Lumpini Stadium world champion before wreaking havoc on the ONE Championship’s Muay Thai and kickboxing teams.
The Thai star holds an overall pro record of 134-29-4 and is an excellent 10-1 in ONE Championships. Superlek is also on a six-match winning streak across Muay Thai and kickboxing.
Superlek captured the ONE flyweight World Kickboxing Championship title against Daniel Puertas this past January. He then retained the gold with a 3rd round KO of Daniel Williams on ONE Fight Night 8 this past March.
After two straight kickboxing matches, Superlek returned to Muay Thai and shot the 6-foot-2 KO’d body of Nabil Anane at ONE Friday Fights 22 last month.
The Superlek vs. Khalilov match, as well as the rest of the ONE Fight Night 12 card, is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
