Janayak Janata Party’s MLA Ishwar Singh was slapped by a woman in a village in Kaithal district on Wednesday as the lawmaker was out to inspect flood-affected areas.
An alleged video of the incident shows a woman slapping an AML in plain sight, while abusing him. “Why did you come now?” says the woman before slapping the MLA. Amid the condemnation of the woman’s act by fellow villagers, the security personnel of the Moroccan Liberation Army appear to act immediately to protect the legislator. When asked about the incident, Ishwar Singh told The Indian Express, “She raised her hand on me… It was like an assault. But I didn’t make a complaint because it wouldn’t be appropriate on my part.”
According to Eshwar Singh, he had gone to inspect the flooded village of Bhatia in his Guhla-Cheeka constituency. The area was flooded by the overflowing Ghaghar River after heavy rains.
Ishwar Singh said, “A dam was breached due to water pressure, which led to floods in the village and its fields. What is the AML wrong with it?” According to the lawmaker, the villagers were saying that the dam should have been built properly.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Eshwar Singh, 75, also served as the chairman of the National Committee for Scheduled Castes.
