A day after the death of a BJP leader from Jehanabad during the party’s protest rally, a delegation of BJP leaders, led by its state unit chief, met Governor of Bihar RV Arlkar to lodge a protest against the “excesses” of the Bihar Police. They also made a silent march from Vidhan Sabha to Raj Bhavan.

Earlier, BJP MPs demanded the government’s response to the matter in both houses of parliament. Meanwhile, Patna Police has filed an FIR against 63 people, including some BJP leaders, for breaching law and order during Thursday’s protest rally.

BJP National President JP Nada has formed a four-member internal committee to look into the causes of death of BJP General Secretary Jehanabad Vijay Kumar Singh during the party’s protest rally. Singh was found unconscious in Chaju Bagh, approximately 500 meters from the protest site.

Patna Police released CCTV footage showing that Singh was away from the protest site.

BJP state chief Samrat Chowdhury said, “How can the Patna Police reach a conclusion when the autopsy report has not arrived yet? We call it a murder by the department.”
