Referring to the violence during the panchayat elections in West Bengal, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said his government had set a standard by holding elections for panchayats, urban local bodies and parliament free from violence, malpractice, boot grabs and loss of life. .

The chief minister said that people witnessed innocent people being killed in violence during the polling and counting of votes for the Panchayat elections in West Bengal.

Adityanath said.

“UP is the same state where having peaceful elections was a distant dream before 2017. But it is possible today, due to the good intentions of the government,” the chief minister added.

Responding to Adityanath’s remarks, Samajwadi Party President and former Union Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, “The Union Chief Minister is showing a lot of concern about West Bengal Panchayat elections. But, under BJP rule, in every election held in the Union, elections have been stifled. Free and fair. Opposition votes have been plundered during the panchayat polls here.”

Yadav, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Federation Council, called the BJP a threat to democracy and the constitution and advised the BJP leadership to reflect before criticizing others.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister handed out letters of appointment to up to 510 officers appointed by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission and

UP Subordinate Services Selection Commission in Lok Bhawan here.

The PM handed out letters of appointment to 199 Auditing Officers/Assistant Reviewing Officers (Secretariat Management Section), 183 Junior Assistants (Transportation Section), and 128 Junior Assistants (Elections Section).

Addressing the newly appointed officers, Adityanath said, “Discrimination in job provision is the biggest sin a government can commit, and it has taught people a good lesson to those governments that have done so. The BJP government has created a system where there is no room for discrimination either at the stage of selection or final appointment.” .

“In the past six years, we have been successful in providing six young people with government jobs,” Adityanath added.

The prime minister said that between 2021 and 2023, approximately 55,000 young people received letters of appointment.
