Four members of a family were injured when an improvised explosive device exploded by mistake in Chakmarisha village in Bhangar district of West 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal on Thursday, police said.

In the Banjar incident, the injured were identified as Rafiq Al-Mulla (33), Saqr Hussain Al-Mulla (19), Inzamul Al-Mulla (17) and Imran Al-Mulla. They were allegedly making bombs on a rooftop when one exploded. A police official said the matter was being investigated.
It was learned that the four tried to flee after the accident, which occurred in the early morning, but were caught by the police from Kantatala district before being taken to the hospital for treatment.
Paramilitaries and police forces were deployed in Bhangar to prevent post-election violence and unrest, with sit-ins being held in several places.
Trinamool supporters allegedly vandalized on Wednesday night the home and shop of a secular Indian Front candidate who lost in opinion polls in Diganga, North Parganas Province 24. There were also allegations that TMC supporters beat ISF workers.
Musafir Mondal, the ISF candidate who lost the election, alleged that Kamrosman Mondal, a local panchayat, carried out the attack after winning the seat he contested.
He claimed that Qamaruzzaman had earlier threatened him to withdraw his candidacy.
A traveler claimed that bombs were also thrown in front of his house.
Officials said that after obtaining information, a team from Dganga Police Station went to the site to control the situation.
On the other hand, Qamaruzzaman Mondal dismissed the accusations as “false and baseless”.
The father of the ISF candidate, Hazrat Ali, and his supporters attacked some workers of the Transitional Military Council in Ummtala Haat district on Wednesday morning after the announcement of the panchayat results. They vandalized shops and houses at night and blamed it on me.”
In the western Khilkapur panchayat of Datapukur district of the northern Parganas district 24, three BJP candidates – Neerbin Dhar, Anima Mandal and Nitish Mandal – accused TMC supporters of attacking their homes and shops on Wednesday.

The police launched an investigation into the alleged incidents.
Earlier on Tuesday, three people, including two ISF supporters, were allegedly killed in police firing near a counting station in Bhangar when the results of the panchayat elections were announced. This was followed by clashes between two groups in front of the count center.
Article 144 was imposed on Wednesday in Bhangar, which has witnessed several violent incidents in the past month since the nomination process for the elections began.
The situation in the area was tense until Thursday as shops and other offices remained closed.
At least 45 people have been killed in violence since the panchayat elections were announced in West Bengal on June 8.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a chief officer of a count center in Nadia district, who suffered a brain attack while on polling duty, died at a hospital in Kalyani on Wednesday night, Joint Rajl Manch said. The deceased, Revati Mohan Biswas, was an assistant teacher at Hansbukoria High School, in Thatta, in the district.
