The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on Friday the men’s and women’s teams that will participate in the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, which is scheduled to start from September 23 and end on October 8. The competition will run from September 28th to October 8th. Both competitions will be held in T20 formats.
The men’s team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and boast the talents of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh and more. The likes of Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda and Sai Sudharsan are on standby.
Rinku, whose exclusion from the Caribbean T20s series was questioned, made the cut while Dube, Jaiswal, Varma and Prabhsimran Singh were the others picked at the back of the stellar IPL. It was a season of maturity for Dube who helped CSK win a record equaling fifth title.
Jaiswal scored a hundred on his Test debut against the West Indies on Thursday before becoming only the third Indian to score 150 on his debut for India.

Tilak was also named in the squad that will face the West Indies in a five-match series from 3 August.
Gaikwad, who will lead the team in China, is currently with the Test squad in the Caribbean. Wicketkeeper’s batsman Jitesh Sharma and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh are also part of the team.
Meanwhile, the women’s team will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur with Smriti Mandana as her deputy. Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque and Pooja Vastrakar are in the standby list.

In June, the Indian Express reported that the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry would take part in both men’s and women’s teams in the Asian Games.
The men’s team will be B-class because the main team will be in the midst of the 50-year World Cup at home.
Earlier, the Indian Governing Council cited past commitments as the reason for the men’s and women’s teams not entering the mega-continental event. “We have participations in all sports except one – (the) cricket team will not be attending,” Bhupender Bajwa, Indian chef for the Asian Games, said earlier. They said they are busy. We sent them about 3-4 emails but when we had to send entries to the organizers, they said they weren’t going.”

Meanwhile, India has already fielded teams for big sports like shooting, boxing, shooting and badminton which have already been announced by the respective National Sports Federations (NSFs).
