Shawn Michaels recently compared a current champion’s match with a rising star to his match with Ric Flair.
Bron Breaker has been one of the fastest rising stars in NXT. He was one of the best performers. However, it was a little surprising when Breaker called out Seth Rollins recently. But the former NXT Champion proved he belonged in the ring with Rollins during the match.
This was the case recently with two of the main roster superstars heading to NXT to have matches with the talent there. Recently, Judgment Day made a trip to NXT and had a match with Carmelo Hayes and Trek Williams.
Talking to Sports men talk wrestlingShawn Michaels talked about how matches between main roster stars and NXT talent helped the latter. He also compared Seth Rollins’ final match with Bron Breaker to a match he had with Ric Flair early in his career.
Now, we’re very fortunate to have other men and women who have come from NXT UK and some who’ve been out there on the independent scene who’ve been doing this a little bit longer which also helps the young athletes who come here from college. At the same time, when someone comes up on the main roster, These are the seeds of knowledge for them as well.”
He completed:
“It’s great to be there with reps, but a lot of times if you’re there with someone who needs as many reps as you are, you’re still learning, but you’re not going to learn at the rate you’re in if you’re there with Finn Balor, for example. That was huge for us. Again, you think Braunbreaker is up there with Seth Rollins, for me it was like I was up there so early with (Ric) Flair, you just take so much, it’s like having a Ph.D. In one night.” (H/T fighting)
Shawn Michaels wants more crossovers between main roster stars and NXT talent
The major talents coming out in NXT have been a huge help to the inexperienced youth and Shawn Michaels seems to feel the same way.
During the same interview, Shawn Michaels said he would like more crossovers between the main roster and NXT, but he also understands that they are busy.
Again, we like to be able to get it a lot. Obviously, we have here and there. They are also busy. We understand that. The great thing is that they give a lot when they come here, not just in the ring, but also to hang around with talent and drop Seeds of knowledge, whether it’s physical or back here, just psychological and mental.” (Erosion fighting)
Given how useful the main roster stars can be, we’ll probably see more crossovers in the future.
