The plot of the show in brief
The strength and valor of the samurai was known throughout the country, but Edo was the home of them all. However, feudal Japan was forced to succumb to a new power that seized Edo, and they were known as the Amanto. The shogunate, once the pride of Japan, is now just a puppet government forced to pass all the laws established by the Amanto.
One of these laws was the ban on swords in public. Gintoki SakataThe protagonist of the series, he always has a wooden bokuto on him and tries to maintain his samurai image. He also started a company with odd jobs, hoping to help those in need and make money.
He is not alone, as he is accompanied by two trusted classmates – Shinpachi Shimura, a boy who wants to learn the ways of the samurai, and Kagura, a girl with an unquenchable appetite and brute strength. Sadaharu, a giant pet dog who loves to eat people’s heads, is also part of their daily endeavors. The show follows the odd-job trio and their regular forays into Edo.
