Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on Saturday discussed the “urgent need” to combat climate change through collective global action, and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of climate ambition, decarbonization and clean energies.

Modi and bin Zayed urged the international community to accelerate efforts to preserve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement by fulfilling the Nationally Determined Contributions and showing solidarity and support. “While firmly adhering to the principles and provisions set forth in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, including principles of equity, common but differentiated responsibilities and related capabilities, taking into account the diverse national circumstances of each country,” the Middle East Airlines statement said. .
In line with India’s request to transfer funds and technologies from developed to developing countries, the two leaders emphasized the urgency of developed countries to meet the $100 billion delivery plan so that the target can be achieved in 2023. They also mentioned commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement and called Countries to take action to double climate finance.
