The prohibition order, which he said was “normal,” was in light of the possibility that such things could be misused to target VVIPS, endanger the lives of the common people, destroy public property, and cause disruption to law and order.

Mumbai Police on Saturday issued a precautionary order banning the flying of drones, light remote-controlled aircraft, gliders, aerial vehicles, hand-gliders and hot-air balloons over the capital for 30 days, an official said.

The prohibition order, which he said was a “normal” order, was in light of the possibility that these objects could be misused to target VVIPS, endanger the life of the public at large, destroy public property, and cause disruption to law and order.

The official added that the order also prohibits unlawful gatherings of five or more people due to information gathered from various sources about the potential for disturbing the peace and disturbing public calm from such gatherings.

He said that the prohibition includes processions, the use of loudspeakers and other sound amplification systems, musical bands and the detonation of fireworks.

The official indicated that weddings, funerals, regular meetings of companies and clubs, and gatherings in and around cinemas, auditoriums, schools, and others are exempt.

The Mumbai Police official said that the part of the prohibition order relating to unlawful assembly will be in effect from Saturday until July 29.
