Many Legends tend to be great at PvP battles, and Pokemon Scarlett and Violet have several worth noting. It’s a common misconception that anything Legendary is broken, however the entries below will be dedicated to the best options currently allowed. Thus, it’s easy to see why these stereotypes persist given that some of the best metagame staples tend to be these Pokemon.

For all intents and purposes, most Paradox Pokemon aren’t considered legends. Likewise, mythology is an entirely separate category. There are still several worthy candidates to discuss in the following list regarding viable PvP options for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

NB: This article specifically discusses the Regulation D ruleset for Season 8. Many legends remain banned and unread on this list.

Five amazing Legends to use in the battles to organize Pokemon Scarlett and Violet

1) Orshevo

Many legends have multiple forms in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Urshifu can come in either Single Strike or Rapid Strike Style. Both are good, but the Rapid Strike Style variant is currently more dominant in the meta. This combat/water type has exclusive access to the spiraling strike move.

This water attack always hits and hits up to three times. Focus Sash and Study wouldn’t stop her from defeating an opponent in a single move. Likewise, Urshifu’s Invisibility Fist ability helps her pass through Protect or Detect, two common moves in dual battles.

2) Dog Paw

Ruin’s Treasures are all very good in their own right, but Chieno-Pao currently stands as the most viable. An ice type with high attack and speed is extremely dangerous, especially with a devastatingly powerful ability like Sword of Ruin. This ability basically reduces the DEF of all enemies by 25% unless they also have the Sword of Desolation.

Anything weak in the movements of ice or darkness would crumble against Chien-Pao. The Sacred Sword also helps bypass any kind of sneaky steel that tries to wall it up. Anything slower than Chien-Pao is bound to do a lot of damage.

3) Chryselia

Cresselia is incredibly huge with a Base of 120 HP, 110 Defense and 120 Sp. Dave. Bad Psychic Typing can be controlled thanks to Terastallization, where players can change its type to something better like Fairy, Electric, or Steel. Levitation helps with immunity to ground attacks, which is good because the latter two are weak on the ground.

There are two cool moves to feature with Cresselia: Lunar Blessing and Trick Room. Makes Lunar Blessing Cresselia dim in exchange for fully healing an ally and removing the conditions for his status. Trick Room makes all Scarlet and Violet’s Pokémon exchange order (ignoring priority moves or certain feats).

4) Tornadoes (incarnated)

The following Legendaries both have alternate forms in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Tornadus Reincarnate form grants this Deceiver, which compliments Tailwind because this attack gets +1 priority. The +1 Tailwind perk is incredibly valuable in Double Battles, making Tornadus one of the best options in the current PvP metagame.

Note that Tornadus’ stature is much smaller in Single Battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. There is no +1 value for Tailwind when two of the four roles are used to set it up and switch it.

5) Landorus (Therian)

Something amazing in both single and double battles is Landorus’s Therian look. Base 145 attack combined with strong stats elsewhere and intimidation will always come in handy. Ground/fly is also a great variety, which leads to Landorus’ Therian form being as good as it gets.

Landorus is malleable and works with a wide variety of items. Having him on a team is a good way to combine several roles, which also allows for a more diverse team build in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
