Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Arsenal could make a move for Liverpool target Romeo Lafia, should Thomas Partey leave this summer.

Jacobs also ruled out chances of Arsenal landing Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchoameni.

Lafia has emerged as the man in demand this summer after a stellar season with Southampton. He was one of the rare bright lights for the Saints as they finished bottom of the Premier League table last season.

Lafia only joined the South Coast side from Manchester City last summer and has been linked to a host of clubs following Southampton’s relegation. According to Jacobs, the player is admired by Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Arsenal have already parted ways with Granit Xhaka this summer and Thomas Partey has also been strongly rumored to be on his way out. Arsenal have signed Declan Rice from West Ham United for a club record £105m, but the loss of Partey could create a huge void in the middle of the park.

On the other hand, Liverpool lost the trio of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner this summer. Fabinho also looks close to a move to Saudi Arabia while Jordan Henderson has also been named as a target for Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq team.

The Reds have added Alexis McAllister and Dominic Zuboszlay to their midfield ranks this summer, but believe they are in the market for more midfield acquisitions. Apart from Liverpool and Arsenal, Chelsea have also been credited with Lavia since last summer.

Lafia made 35 appearances across competitions for Southampton last summer, scoring once and providing one assist. The 19-year-old Belgium international has impressed with his work-rate, tackling ability and brilliant technique.

Arsenal star Thomas Partey agrees to terms with the Saudi side

Arsenal star Thomas Partey has reportedly agreed terms with the unnamed Saudi Professional League side. According to Afcstuff via Football365, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder looks set to move to the Middle East.

Mikel Arteta’s side already lost Granit Xhaka this summer in a £21.5m deal, and now Partey could be on his way out too. The Ghanaian was a key figure for Arsenal when he joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2020, in a £45m deal.

The north London giants have signed Declan Rice for a club record £105m, but the loss of Partey could create another vacancy in mid-park. Apart from Rice, Kai Havertz and Joren Timber also made moves to the Emirates this summer.
