The body of Boran Mormo, 62, was found hanging inside his room in Pamangola, police said, adding that he lives in the same house with his son and daughter-in-law.
The body of an elderly BJP worker was found hanging inside his home in West Bengal’s Malda district on Sunday morning, sparking protests among a section of villagers who accused local Trinamool party leaders of incitement.
The body of Boran Mormo, 62, was found hanging inside his room in Pamangola, police said, adding that he lives in the same house with his son and daughter-in-law.
Murmo’s daughter-in-law contested the recent panchayat elections on the TMC ticket but lost to the BJP, after which Puran was assaulted by his son and other Trinamool supporters, the protesters alleged. Police said Mormo Bibilab’s son will be questioned.
BJP’s Malda North MP Khajn Murmo alleged that Pooran’s daughter-in-law unsuccessfully contested for a panchayat seat on the TMC ticket, after which Pooran was tortured by Trinamool supporters after the results were announced on 11 July. karyakarta in the region and has been involved in building the kiosk-level organization for a long time.
