Hema Malini and Dharmendra One of Bollywood’s most legendary couples, known for their lifelong partnership on and off screen. Their bond defied convention, and Hema never hesitated to talk about her unconventional marriage. Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur when they first crossed paths. Now, after 43 years together, Hema has opened up about what brought her closer to Dharmendra, aside from his good looks.
I saw Hema Dharmendra for the first time at a movie premiere, and thought, “What a good looking man.” In an interview with Lehren, Hema was asked why she was attracted to him, and said that more than anything else, he’s a “nice guy”. She remembered that back in the day, they had been spending a lot of time together on outdoor shoots, and Dharmendra had supported her through it all. This caused her to start “depending” on him. She also described him as a “straightforward” and “simple” person. Hema and Dharmendra tied the knot in 1980 and have two daughters – Ahana and Esha Deol. Dharmendra and Prakash have four children – Sunny, Bobby and daughters Ajita and Vigeta.
In the same interview, Hema also opened up about her files An unusual living arrangement. Reportedly, Hema chose to live in a house separate from Dharmendra. Talking about this, Hema said that everyone would like to experience a regular married life, but she feels there is no point in frowning or complaining about her situation. “I don’t feel bad about it, or feel bad about it. I’m happy with myself. I have my two kids, and I’ve raised them really well,” she said.
Hema and Dharmendra starred together for the first time Sharafat by Asit Sen in 1970. They then starred in films like Sholay, Sita Aur Gita and To install Do Dishayen.
