Gundogan joins Inigo Martinez and Vitor Roque as three signings for Blaugrana during the summer transfer window so far.

Ilkay Gundogan on what he brings to Barcelona

Ilkay Gundogan has been among the best midfielders in the world these past few years at Manchester City. The German midfielder has been a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s team that has dominated English football for over five years now.

When asked what he brings to Barcelona, the veteran midfielder points to his experience and versatility. He said:

“As I said, I think I can bring a lot of experience to the table, but there is clearly a great quality in Barcelona’s midfield. I can adapt to different roles: more defensive and more offensive.”

“I’m a player who likes to have possession of the ball, and I think it’s a very important thing to be a Barcelona player, because of the style of play.”

he added:

“And besides, I always do my best and best efforts to help the team as much as possible, because in the end, individuals can help but what matters is the team.”

Gundogan played more than 550 matches for clubs such as Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, scoring 110 goals and 66 assists. He is known for his ability to control midfield and attack late into the penalty area.

With the departure of Sergio Busquets earlier this summer, Gundogan is expected to bring calm energy and experience to Barcelona’s young midfield.
