After suffering a broken arm at UFC Vegas 77 on July 15, fighter Istela Nunes released a response on social media.
The Brazilian posted a photo of herself in the hospital on her Instagram Stories. In the caption, the 30-year-old thanked her fans for their support and promised to come back stronger from injury.
I have so many messages. Thank you so much for all your support and love. I will reply to everyone when I get home. Thank you to all my fans. I felt so good and so strong. I prepared so much for this fight. I knew today was my night And that was my fight. But I will come back stronger and show you all again. Thank you, UFC, and thank you, Dana White,” Estella Nunes wrote.
Nunes went up against Viktoriia Dudakova in a strawweight match in the prelims of the event. The fight was a short-lived affair as in the opening seconds Dudakova attempted a takedown which resulted in Nunes suffering an arm injury.
The referee stopped the bout and declared Dudakova the winner via TKO.
UFC president Dana White posted an X-ray from infecting his account on social media.
UFC fighter Diana Belbita has expressed concern for Istela Nunes after the Brazilian fractured his arm at UFC Vegas 77.
Belbita posted a tweet expressing how bad she feels for the 30-year-old because she may not get another chance to prove herself in the UFC. “The Warrior Princess” added that she hopes the Brazilian will land another fight in the multi-billion dollar promotion.
“Oh, I feel bad for Estela Nunes. Especially because I think this was her last chance to prove she deserves her spot in the UFC. I hope she gets another chance.”
Nunes has not had a good run in the UFC. After building a 6-1-1 record in her MMA career, the 30-year-old entered the UFC but it all went downhill from there. Nunes has competed in four UFC matches but has lost all four of them.
Therefore, there is a possibility that the UFC may part ways with the Brazilian after her recent loss on July 15th.
