While two of them were rescued and three others are missing, a fire brigade official said, adding that the three were not traced until the night. In Chandrapur district in eastern Maharashtra, four members of a group enjoying a picnic at Godaziri Lake, about 106 kilometers from the district headquarters, fell while taking a selfie at around 4.30pm, a police officer said.

The police and disaster management teams launched a search operation to track down the four men, including a 17-year-old boy, the officer said, adding that the water level in the lake had risen due to the rains in the area. The search was suspended Sunday night due to poor lighting and inclement weather.

The official said two of the five boys, aged between 13 and 16, had rescued some people in Marv, Mumbai, before firefighters arrived from the creek. He added that the other three – two aged 12 and the other 13 – were missing.

The official added that Mumbai firefighters, police, coast guard, navy divers, wing crew and an ambulance rushed to the site. A helicopter was also involved in the search, which was canceled in the evening.
