All eyes are on Shuhei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels as we begin the second half of the season. Many around the league are wondering what the Angels will do with Ohtani at the trade deadline.

Los Angeles put some of those ideas to rest when they started hearing about deals involving Ohtani. They will have until August 1 to decide whether Ohtani will wear the Angels’ uniform for the rest of the season.

A trade is considered unlikely, given what the team would have to fork out to acquire Ohtani. At the very least, teams will have to trade a few top 100 prospects along with some major league players.

This is a difficult situation for everyone involved. The Angels don’t want to lose Ohtani, but their chances of re-signing him when the season is over are slim.

Other teams understand this, which makes them unlikely in a farm system to get a man they can score in the off-season.

“Angels would be fools if they didn’t trade him and teams would be fools to offload the capital its going to take a few months. Unless some serious guard re-signs him to the team he trades” the fan tweeted.

Another fan wrote on Twitter, “The most expensive rental in the history of professional sports. That would be awesome.”

Some fans think the LA Angels will do themselves a disservice if they don’t trade Shohei Ohtani. They can’t just let him walk in free agency and leave the team to put the pieces back together.

Some other fans think teams should be careful about taking on Ohtani at the deadline. Teams can’t destroy their farm systems if they aren’t sure it will be with them for the long haul.

Mike Trott’s recent injury did not help the team decide to keep Shuhei Ohtani. Prior to Trout’s injury, they were rivals in the American League West. Now, they have a sub-. 500 record and will be without trout for weeks.

This prompted the team to listen in on the trade talks. Shuhei Otani has expressed his desire to win, and without Trout, this team is likely to struggle. The Los Angeles Angels are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
