According to the team, the injury occurred during the seventh inning of the Yankees’ game against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Although the disease concerned Donaldson’s calf, the third baseman missed more than six weeks earlier in the season with hamstring problems.
Normally, the relegation of a former MVP player to IL would be seen as unwelcome news to the fan base. However, in the case of Donaldson, Yankees fans seem happy that he won’t be around for some time.
Over the past 30 days, the Yankees have been one of the worst hitting teams in MLB. With a 0.28 average over that time period, the team has seen many of its presumptive stars face plate struggles.
