An Air India flight bound for Delhi from Udaipur returned to the Gulf after a short slump on Monday due to an issue with a passenger’s mobile phone charger malfunctioning, according to officials.

An official said AI Flight 470 was delayed by at least an hour and later took off for Delhi.

After that, the plane, which had retreated, turned back, as a precaution to ensure the safety of the passengers.

However, an official at Udaipur airport said there appeared to be smoke on board the plane and it later turned back after being fended off.

While the exact sequence of development could not be immediately verified, reports claimed that there was a problem with a passenger’s power bank.
