While participating in a regional conference on drugs, smuggling and national security on Monday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the state had damaged property worth Rs 46 crore belonging to drug dealers and smugglers in the last year. Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the conference, which was attended by Chief Ministers and Directors of Police (DGPs) from various states through video conferencing.
Giving details of the government’s crackdown on drug trafficking, Khattar said more than 3,824 FIRs were registered in Haryana and 6,000 people were arrested last year. Among them are 10 Nigerian suppliers. Apart from this, assets worth Rs 46 crore have been attached to 71 people,” the chief minister said.
“Forty sniffer dogs have been trained. Furthermore, for the effective implementation of the NDPS Act, legal counsel is being engaged. Eight new Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) have been set up across the state, of which one FSL has started operating in Sirsa. After preparation State Action Plan A survey is being conducted in which parents of those involved in drug abuse are also included in order to make them aware of this social evil.Apart from this, a program has been developed to catch the offenders.CM Khattar said that 52 anti-addiction centers are being run in the state .
“Drugs worth Rs 9 crore were destroyed today in Rewari, Hisar and Ambala districts, while drugs worth Rs 100 crore were destroyed on 26th June 2023. To prevent illegal sale of drugs… Sathi mobile app is developed by Haryana State Narcotics Bureau and administering medicine to all chemical stores of the state. After the launch of this app, no illegal drug can be sold by chemists without a prescription. Besides, Rahgiri programs have been initiated to educate the youth of the state on drug abuse.”
Reporting on the state government’s action plan in ‘drug-prone areas’, the Haryana Shah government said, “Five hundred policemen have been deployed in Noah district to break the drug network. Besides, a special anti-drug campaign is being carried out in the border villages. The mission teams have been formed from Village and ward level to state level for addiction removal and rehabilitation, in which Sarpanch village and other people are included so Haryana can be made drug-free.To help drug addicts in the state, free anti-drug helpline No. 9050891508 has also been started to collect information from the public about vending activities So far, 5,542 calls have been received on this number, which proves useful in helping addicts and also plays a major tool in breaking the drug supply chain.”
Speaking about the meeting, a spokesperson for the Haryana government said, “After reviewing the efforts made by the states to tackle the drug menace, the Union Home Minister has directed Chief Ministers and DGPs to tighten the screws on those involved in illegal drug trafficking in order to fulfill PM Narendra Modi’s dream in India. drug-free.”
