Capital Superman: Legacy It has become a major priority as the growth and development of the new James John center console relies heavily on it. Things started moving really quickly behind the scenes with Gunn and co already finishing most of the cast members. But the casting of Lex Luthor isn’t finalized yet.
A recent Giant Freakin’ Robot rumor pointed this out “DC Studios has officially offered Daniel Craig the role of Lex Luthor” to Superman: Legacy. Considering that the movie needs a bigger name besides the ones that have been cast so far, the Daniel Craig rumor has sparked a lot of chatter online. But James Gunn didn’t let the rumors survive for long.
James Gunn denies Daniel Craig’s involvement in the Superman: Legacy
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently spoke to Thread to respond to the Daniel Craig-Lex Luthor rumor. When asked if this was true, he answered bluntly:
“this is not true.”
So, we can be sure that the casting of Lex Luthor hasn’t been finalized yet, or else it will be announced along with the rest of the cast before the final casting strike.
The actors’ strike will now prohibit the signing of any new contracts Superman: Legacy. Thus, those who want to know which actor will play Lex Luthor will have to wait until the strike is over. In the meantime, we can be sure it won’t be Daniel Craig.
Although Gunn denied these rumors, however James Bond The actor talked about taking on the role of a Superhero again in 2020. In an interview with Saga Magazine (via CBR), he said:
“I dreamed of being all sorts of other things—Superman, Spider-Man, the Invisible Man, even an old-fashioned cowboy. But Bond isn’t so much, which seems ridiculous now.”
But now, after completing 007, he’s happy playing roles like Benoit Blanc that are less stressful on his body. So, it might not be a superhero role unless he just has to make cameos as Balder the Brave.
Who could be Lex Luthor?
Just before David Corenswet was finalized as Superman, his name was mentioned on the shortlist along with two other actors. In the same report from The Hollywood Reporter were the names of Nicholas Hoult, Alexander Skarsgard, and Bill Skarsgard.
Both Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd and Nicholas Hoult are around the same age. Their behaviors and way of portraying them may differ, but both will introduce Lex Luthor of the same age group as Zack Snyder’s Lex Luthor (played by Jesse Eisenberg). This is one of the reasons why 46-year-old Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd is cast in the role.
Another reason is that his portrayal will be different than any Lex Luthor we’ve seen thus far, and he could also continue to give us President Luthor from the comics. Moreover, the cast Superman: Legacy Full of familiar but relatively new names. It needs a big name A-Lister to draw in audiences, and Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd could be exactly that.
Superman: Legacy It is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
