Speaking at CNN-News18’s Delhi City Hall, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also expressed confidence that the BJP will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections just as it won the 2014 and 2019 general elections.
Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar lashed out at the opposition’s attempts to form an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on Monday, saying their unity was “only about hating one person”. Speaking at CNN-News18’s Delhi City Hall, Chandrasekhar added that the UCC debate is not a “reconnaissance gambit”.
“I see 15 faces in the opposition. They don’t get along with each other…the opposition is trying so hard to be related. Their unity has nothing new to offer because their unity is only the hatred of one person.”
“Elections in this new, awakened India are about what they offer young Indians… A healthy debate about ideas is good. This is the new India and the people want the political parties to put things forward and move the country forward.”
The Ministry of Electronics and Technology has also expressed confidence that the BJP will win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections just as it won the 2014 and 2019 general elections. We have seen an evolution in the last 9 years. The people of India will speak in 2024 as they speak in 2019 and 2014… Our vote share has increased in Karnataka and West Bengal. The BJP is clear on what we stand for.”
Asked about alliances, Chandrasekhar said, “We will not dilute our goals and ideology if other political parties join us.”
Asked about the controversy surrounding the Uniform Civil Code, one of the BJP’s election promises for a long time, Chandrasekhar said, “There have been appeasement policies for the last 65 years. India is a great country and it has become an economic power… There is no conscription yet. And it has been done.” The identification of these basic principles by BR Ambedkar in the constitution too,” he said, adding that it was “not a reconnaissance maneuver.”
