The DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes is now officially over, as the veteran receiver has signed with the Tennessee Titans.
Hopkins had the choice between New England and Tennessee with Mike Vrabel’s team winning the race.
After losing AJ Brown last season to the Philadelphia Eagles, some questioned why the Giants signed Hopkins to a deal, while allowing Brown to be traded to the Eagles.

But NFL YouTuber Mikerophone has explained why he thinks the move happened, with Hopkins set to receive half the money the Browns would have received had he signed with the Titans.
Mikerophone said on his YouTube channel:
A lot of people say why should the Giants have to go and do this why didn’t they just sign AJ Brown to a contract extension last season when his contract expired?
DeAndre Hopkins gets paid literally half as much as AJ Brown would have been paid so to be honest it was such a shootout that the Titans seemed to lose at least at this point early on.
“So they’re trying to fill the void that AJ Brown left behind with this very cool way of doing it. In the case of DeAndre Hopkins, he really didn’t have a choice here, the titans are giving him whatever he wants.”
The Titans offense last season wasn’t great to watch, even with Ryan Tannehill as a starter. The Browns’ loss on draft night left a huge gap on offense that could not be filled as they averaged just 17.5 points per game (28th in the NFL).
Veteran Robert Woods was the Titans’ leading receiver with 527 yards. The highest touchdown scorer was running back Dontrell Hilliard who caught four touchdowns.
Now with the signing of DeAndre Hopkins, the Titans have a receiver who puts up 1,000-yard seasons for fun when they’re healthy.
It will be interesting to see how Hopkins adjusts to Attack on Titan. He joins a receiver room that includes young stars Treylon Burks, Chris Moore and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine as the only “known commodities” on the list at the receiver position.
Hopkins has chosen where he wants to play, and next season he will be wearing a Tennessee Titan uniform.
