A prosthetic eye found in the heavily charred body of a gangster in Odisha helped his wife identify it, police said, leading to the arrest of his killers on Monday.

After identifying the charred corpse of Pratap alias Bibu Sahu, a man who was allegedly involved in extortion and other crimes, the police arrested six people, members of his rival gang.
Sahu was kidnapped at gunpoint from his village Bhagabanpur of Marsagai Police Station in Kindrapara district on the evening of May 31. Police said they allegedly killed him and burned his body beyond recognition.
Soudamini, Sahu’s wife, filed a police complaint. During the investigation, the police learned that a burnt body was found in a forest under Tamka Police Station in Jajpur district on 1 June.
Police said that while examining the body, doctors found an artificial eye, which Sudamini identified as her husband’s.
Then the police launched raids and arrested the accused.
