U Mumba TT emerged victorious in an exciting contest against Chennai Lions on Sunday. The fourth match of the league saw two undefeated teams face off against each other and the Mumbai-based team emerged as winners.
The accomplished batsman Sharath Kamal Quadri faced Aruna in the first match of the day. Aruna grabbed the lead at the start, but Sharath Kamal managed to win all seven. The Yo Mumba racket picked up three straight points to finish the match 11-8.
He dominated the second game, from the start, to race to an 8-2 lead. Sharath Kamal won by several consecutive points to make it 7-9. Quadri Arona finished the second game 11-8.
While Sharath Kamal started match three well, Quadri Aruna proved too good for the touring Indian superstar as he went down 11-5 in the final to give U Mumba TT a 3-0 lead.
Sutirtha Mukherjee and Lily Zhang produced action-packed edge-of-the-seat performances in Match One of Match Two.
Lily Zhang won the first match 11-10. Then I completely dominated the second game. Zhang took a 5-1 lead at first and capitalized to win the match with a score of 11-7.
Sutitha Mukherjee won four straight points early in the third period. It then moved to 9-6, but Lily Chang won 3 straight points and took the match to golden point. Sutirtha Mukherjee won the match to open countout for the Chennai Lions.
Sharath/Yangzi and Manav/Lily faced off in today’s mixed doubles match. The Chennai Lions duo dominated the first match to win 11-6. The U Mumba TT pair bounced back in the second half to take the score 11-5.
They also started the match three well. The Chennai Lions duo threatened to take the game from Yo Mumba, but Manaf/Lilly held their nerve to reach 11-9, the team’s third win of the night.
Benedict Duda and Manaf Thakkar started with a close game. Duda eventually won the title with a score of 11-8. Manav Thakkar started the second game with three straight points, but Chennai Lions rower used the corners to his advantage and won the match 11-9.
The third match was easier than the first two as Benedict Duda completed a complete match in an 11-4 victory. Chennai Lows closed out the match and moved to 5-7 after the fourth match.
With the match on the line, Yangtze faced Liu and Dia Shitali in the women’s singles. Yangzi Liu wasted no time and won the first game 11-6 and took a 5-1 lead in the second game.
However, Dia Schitaly produced an excellent comeback to win the match with a score of 11-8. Mumbai paddlers helped U Mumba get 8 game points. Yangtze Liu then won the final easily, 11-3 to finish tied at 7-8.
Kabaddi stars Rinku and Surinder Singh were seen supporting U Mumba TT
Indian kabaddi stars Rinku and Surinder Singh attended the match on Sunday. Wearing a U Mumba TT jersey, they were seen enjoying their team’s victory at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, in Pune. The duo also interacted with players and officials from U Mumba TT.
