Bhavsinh Parad, a police officer attached to Sutrapada Police Station in Ghir Somnath, was suspended from duty on Monday after being arrested in a case registered under the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

Manoharsinh Jadeja, superintendent of Gir Somnath District Police, said the constable was suspended due to his alleged involvement in the liquor case.

Parad’s suspension comes two days after he was arrested by the Sutrapada police on Saturday. He was sent to police custody until Monday.

According to the FIR registered at the Sutrapada Police Station, Parad and three guards of the Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) seized a shipment of liquor from a motorist and sold most of the bottles to a local smuggler while the motorist was allowed to go.
