The NBA Summer League had a lot of highlights. There were performances of athletics, speed, shooting and basketball.
The semifinals between the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets was a somewhat odd high point, though (via NBACentral):
•
Ed Croswell, after dunking and holding on to the rim for seconds, landed on the crown jewels of Rockets guard Nate Hinton. Croswell was accused of gross wrongdoing 1 after this bizarre incident.
Croswell, an undrafted starter from Providence, played nine minutes and contributed two points. That dunk was the only basket he made in the entire game and led Farah to cost him a flagrant error.
The Utah big man never played in the Summer League Basketball. He averages 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in 6.5 minutes per game.
On the other hand, Hinton has been great for the Houston Rockets summer team. He saw action for 32 minutes and finished with 27 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists.
In five games in the NBA Summer League, Nate Hinton averaged 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.0 assists. There are rumors that the Rockets could offer him a two-way contract based on his performance.
The Houston Rockets remain undefeated in the Basketball Summer League
The Houston Rockets were heading into the playoffs 4-0 against the Utah Jazz. Even without Amin Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., and Terry Eason, the Rockets pulled off another win to stay perfect.
The Jazz’s rookie Keyonte George didn’t have to deal with a sprained ankle, which only helped the Rockets’ cause.
The first ten minutes of the game ended with the score 19-19. It was only in the second quarter when the Rockets opened up the game. Houston’s 30-18 advantage was all it took to take control of the game.
The Jazz tried to come back again in the second half but the Rockets wouldn’t let the game slip away. Nate Hinton, Cam Whitmore and Trevor Hudgens were just too many for Utah to beat.
Next time the Houston Rockets will meet the undefeated Cleveland Cavalierswho won the other semifinal game against the Brooklyn Nets in overtime.
