Sanju Samson is gearing up for the limited series in the West Indies, set to run from July 27 to August 13.

In a post shared on social media, the wicket-taker can be seen wearing a black shirt with matching shorts, sneakers and a chain around his neck during his intense session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) gym in Bengaluru. The 28-year-old captioned it with a biceps emoji.

On the professional front, Samson was last seen in a match with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batsman amassed 362 runs in 14 matches at an average of 153.39, including three half-centuries.

He last played Kerala batsmen for India in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He injured his left knee trying to field a ball near the boundary ropes during the first T20I of the three match series.


Sanju Samson is likely to replace Ishan Kishan in the playing eleven

Sanju Samson has, to date, represented the ‘Men in Blue’ in 11 ODIs, scoring 330 runs at an average of 66, including two half-centuries.

Samson May was playing at number five after Ishan Kishan failed to bowl middle during the home series against New Zealand, returning with figures of 5, 8* and 17. The left-handed batsman then scored only 3 runs against Australia in the first ODI despite returning to the opener slot .

With KL Rahul ruled out due to injury, Samson will now look to grab the opportunity with both hands ahead of the 2023 World Cup. India will host the ICC tournament from October 5 to November 19.

This will be Samson’s second tour of the West Indies. He previously scored 12, 54 and 6* during the three-match ODI series in July last year.
