As the water level of the Yamuna River has receded and the flooding situation has improved in parts of Delhi, the Delhi Transport Department has decided to partially lift the entry restrictions for heavy goods vehicles.
The department had banned the entry of heavy goods vehicles except for those carrying necessities into the city from four borders as a precautionary measure in light of the high water level in Yamuna.
The Department of Transport issued a circular that, due to the urgency of the situation, in exercise of the provision of Section 115 MV of the 1988 Law, says “When entering heavy goods vehicles it should only continue from the Singhu border”.
Besides, interstate buses from Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand will terminate at ISBT Kashmir Gate at Singgu Border.
However, the directives will not apply to trucks carrying essential commodities such as medicines, raw vegetables, fruits, grains, milk, eggs, ice etc. that will be used as foodstuffs and tanks carrying petroleum products.
