The seventh match of the inaugural MLC edition kicked off on July 18 at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium. The match featured an epic clash between the Texas Super Kings and MI New York who were ready to grind hard until the last minute.

After choosing to bat first, the Texas Super Kings got off to a good start. Conway started brilliantly with the bat scoring 74 (55) which featured eight fours and six. Despite losing two wickets early on, he batted well with Miller to navigate him through the turbulent middle period.

The pair put on a 64-run stand for the fourth wicket which added some momentum to the Texans’ innings. Mitchell Santner played a lightning cameo of 27 (13) to take his team past the 150 mark. Unfortunately, a steady flurry of wickets restricted them to just 154.

MI New York kept the scoring rate in check despite not taking many wickets during the mid-overs. Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada bowled impressive bouts of 2/29 and 2/30 along with captain Pollard who bowled a spell that ranked 1/17 in three overs.

MI New York got off to a modest start to their innings scoring 68 runs in their first 10 overs with the loss of two wickets. Daniel Sams and Rusty Theron bowled well with the new ball conceding very few runs at around 3.0 RPO. Things gradually started to smooth out when Nicholas Pooran was run out in the 19th by Devon Conway.

They slipped further and further as Zia and Mohsin got into the act and picked up a bunch of wickets to expose the fragile middle order. With the required average rising with each passed ball, MI New York lost its way and eventually lost the game by 17 runs. Shayan Jahangir scored an effortless 41 (38) at a strike rate of 107.

The Texas bowlers did a commendable job of restricting New York to just 137. Theron and Zea played brilliantly with the new ball and made early breakthroughs. Daniel Sams was brilliant in death as he did not allow Tim David to run and conceded just three runs while picking up two wickets.
