Speaking at CNN-News18’s Delhi City Hall, Puri added that India was “better off” than the Western world and immediate neighbors in terms of fuel prices.

There is a false narrative being spread about inflation. We have to see what is happening globally. India is better off than western countries. Inflation is under control in India.”

Instead, the union minister questioned the hike in fuel prices in the opposition-ruled states. High prices are evident in countries ruled by the opposition. BJP-ruled states perform better than opposition-ruled states where VAT has been reduced. “We are keeping fuel prices low despite the rise in imports,” he said.
