The team reviewed the tender documents and the recorded data of some officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and discussed the procedures for awarding bids with the concerned officials.

The Mumbai Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday visited the headquarters of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) here for the second consecutive day as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in 12,024 crore contracts.

A police official said the Special Investigation Unit inspected documents related to the tender and recorded statements of some BMC officials.

He pointed out that the members of the authority discussed the procedures for awarding bids with the concerned officials.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has reported “irregularities” in several contracts awarded by BMC, the country’s richest civic body.

SIT is headed by Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and includes the Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW), Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW) and other officers.
