Four days after a 39-year-old man was shot dead outside his home in Lake Town, Bidanagar Police said on Monday that they have arrested five people, including the main accused, and seized the firearm used in the commission of the crime.

Snehasis Roy, 39, who survived a similar attack in June last year, was not so lucky this time.
According to the police, the main accused, Sagar, hired contract killers to get rid of Snehasis, who worked in the fire safety department. “Sagar is the main culprit. He has hired killers through one of his Tanmoy Pal. The list of phone calls of Snehashis and Sagar’s wife is being reviewed as the main accuser suspects that the two were having an affair… During interrogation, Sagar claimed that he and Snehashis had an affair with a man else,” said a police officer.

Police sources said that after examining the CCTV footage, they arrested two contract killers – Afroz Ansari (22) and Aayush Sharma (18) – on Thursday night immediately after the killings. Another young man, Akash Mullik, 22, was arrested on Friday.

Interrogators said that Akash told them during interrogation that Tanmi had contacted him to kill the Sunihashis. Tammi, a resident of Sodaipur, was soon arrested by the police on Sunday.

After questioning Tanmoy, they come to know about the involvement of Sagar, a resident of Madhyamgram.

Police sources said that after the murder, Sagar fled to Colby.

A police officer said, “All the accused are in police custody and are being questioned to see if there was another motive behind the killing.”
